Exhibition '' Paths of tombstones ''
International exhibition 'Paths of tombstones' 'will open on Friday, the 5th of September at 12 hours and 30 minutes in the exhibition space Luža. It will be preceded by a round table on 'Valuation of tombstones tourism' 'in the reading room of the State Archives in Dubrovnik - Palace
Sponza, starting at 10 o'clock. Everything takes place as part of the Hercule - Valorisation of cultural heritage medieval tombstones in the Western Balkans, implemented by the Regional Development Agency Dunea.
Hereby we invite all those interested in the tourism sector to participate in the round table.The results of previous project Hercule will be presented , during which strategy to preserve the tombstones was made which, among other things, gave guidance on how to further develop the potential at the tourist and cultural terms provide localities with tombstones.The formation of trail of thetombstones is also near end, which will cover a total of 32 sites with tombstones in the four countries involved in the project - Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia.
This tourist trail, which can function as a common, or as four separate units, will enable the economic valorization of cultural assets in the area. In Dubrovnik-Neretva County there are the most involved sites, as many as 19 of the Neretva to Konavle, where in the Dubravca, the church of St. Barbara is one of two Croatian sites, candidates for inclusion on the World Heritage List of UNESCO, as well as site Novakovo burial ground on the Dubrovnik Riviera one of the best preserved and most beautiful sites with tombstones in the our area where archaeological research and conservation of tombstones as a framework of the Hercule project was carried out.
Photo exhibition will be opened that same day, at 12 o'clock and 30 minutes in Luža and there will be presented this extremely valuable and unique cultural and historical heritage of the four countries. Author of photos is Zoran Marinovic. After Dubrovnik, the exhibition will be presented in Brussels and the partner countries, to get to the end, in November, returned to Dubrovnik as part of the final conference of the project Hercule.
