The thematic tourist road '' Pelješac-The Wine Empire '' was officially proclaimed by County Mayor Nikola Dobroslavić on March 18th, 2014, and then presented at a press conference.

Dubrovnik-Neretva County and the Regional Development Agency DUNEA, together with partners, in recent months worked intensively on the establishment of the first thematic tourist road in our county. Pelješac was chosen because of its rich rural tourism offer, and "the wine empire" is named after the most valuable resource in this area.

- We recognize the rural area as a great potential and worked to activate it in the tourist and every other sense. It is designed and visual identity for the entire rural offer of our county, which will apply to all facilities of the rural supply.We intend to establish seven tourist roads in the county, and after Pelješac we are going to do the same in Neretva. I Would like to thank everyone who participated in this project, especially the people on the ground who have joined and supported this initiative - said County Mayor Nikola Dobroslavić.

President of the Commission for the formation of roads Ivo Mujo explained the provisions of the Ordinance, which is declared for this purpose, and he exactly defined conditions that participants must meet. Finally in the road Pelješac there are more than 100 participants:

  • 22 wineries
  • 18 wine tasting
  • 1 wine bar
  • 8 agritourism
  • 2 shellfish
  • 3 manufacturers of souvenirs
  • 5 important examples of heritage
  • 7 other offer (such as cycling and hiking paths ...)
  • 40 restaurants (as associate members).

All participants will receive information material - a bilingual brochure 'Pelješac-The Wine Empire' - which contains a map on which are marked all objects, their photos and info data, racks for brochures and tiles with a visual of the Road Pelješac for each object.

- We started and setting up signage that includes large information boards and signs brown signage for each of the participants - said DUNEA manager Melanie Milic.

Made and websites www.rural-dubrovnik-neretva.hr which will be upgraded to rural tourism offer of the county, all financed from the projects implemented DUNEA.

On behalf of the participants Road and its Managing Authority Josip Antunovic thanked for the initiative for this.

I Would like to thank the Dubrovnik-Neretva County and DUNEA and for the unification of all the subjects on the Pelješac. This we need, because we have significant potential and by pooling can only get strengthen. We hope that this new tourism product will be recognize ny travel agencies - said Antunovic.

On behalf of the Managing Authority of Roads, Mayor of Ston Vedran Antunica called on Sunday March 23 at The Oysters Day in Mali Ston, where at 10 am at the Hotel Ostrea will be organized promotion of themed road '' Pelješac - The Wine Empire '' and materials were distributed to participants of the road.
