The first thematic tourist road in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County was formed in the area of ​​peninsula and named after its most valuable resource - wine empire. Road combines the overall supply of rural tourism in this area, and the participants are all wineries and wine tasting,

Pelješac agrotourism, taverns and restaurants, as well as manufacturers of souvenirs, shellfish and monuments that have been adapted for the reception of guests. The official foundation was in Ston on October 30, 2013. Prefect Dobroslavić in his opening statement emphasized the importance and potential of rural tourism for the economy of our county and winemaking role in the development of rural areas, especially the Peninsula Pelješac. He also mentioned the importance of a uniform market appearance and the fact that establishment of unique tourist road in the area of ​​peninsula will restore order in the labeling and raise the overall offer at a higher level.

Establishment of the road is carried out within a County project Development of rural tourism which is the main goal of unification, development and promotion of the total supply of rural tourism in our region. Establishment of thematic tourist roads and development of traditional agricultural products, are base framework of this project. Promotional materials, which are also part of the project, describe over a hundred different localities of Pelješac. This way information for our future tourists will be more easily accessible. Along the Peninsula will be placed a new uniform tourist signaling, and info boards and panels at the entrances to the Peninsula and in malls.

At a meeting held on the occasion of establishment is determined that the Tourist Board of Ston will be a legal person representing the road, and the executive body of the road was also elected. Nine members of the leadership of the new tourist road “Pelješac - wine empire” make Jozo Barović, Jozo Rabušić, Mato Violić - Matuško, Anto Grgurević, Josip Antunović and municipality mayors of Pelješac Vedran Antunica, Vlatko Mratović, Jaksa Frankovic and Tomislav Ančić.

Dubrovnik- Neretva Country is implementing this project in collaboration with partners, RDAs DUNEA, Chambers, County Tourist Board and local councils and tourist boards.
